The CIHEAM BARI International Organisation is the executing Agency that manages the Project in terms of both administrative and technical point of views, realising a strong partnership with the Myanmar Department of Fishery (DoF).
The Mediterranean model is proposed for improving continuously the HACCP system, as requested by the European Union  and above all, by the dynamism of the value chain and markets.  The proposal draws technical actions for realising a technical and commercial dialogue between the Myanmar private sector and the Italian enterprises trough the Myanmar Fishery Association and Italian ASSOITTICA. Same approach is any case implemented for the local market (Yangon wet markets) for ensuring the same level of food security and safety to the Myanmar population.  The Project is a flagship initiative and remarks the comparative advantage of the Italian system  in terms of scientific research, technologies, processing and in the hygienic and sanitary regulations. The private/public dialogue between the two Countries  develops technological and commercial agreement (B2B), crucial also for the Italian enterprises and for national consumption in Italy. The Project aims to support the economic sector (Institutions, local markets and exports ) developing also a “social-economic post pandemic response”, according also to the Covid-19 Economic Relief Plan (CERP). The Project is funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation for a value of 3,26 MEUR through a multibilateral channel. It is expected to start between the next December/ January.
